Harry Watts Academy Achieve Skills Builder Silver Award
Return to Latest NewsHarry Watts Academy are constantly looking at ways to enhance the learning and experiences of their young people. As part of the Careers Learning in the school, they put in a bid in 2022 and were able to become part of the Skills Builder Accelerator Programme and were awarded the Silver Award in July 2023.
In September 2022, the Skills Builder programme was introduced across the school to teach young people essential skills that would support them in school and in later life, including the world of work. The eight essential skills covered by the framework are speaking, listening, teamwork, creativity, staying positive, aiming high, problem solving and leadership.
Discrete Skills Builder lessons are taught regularly in classes throughout the year and are now woven into the school’s curriculum. This is a significant achievement for the school and puts them in a select group of schools and colleges who have demonstrated their effectiveness in building the essential skills of their young people. They passionately believe that developing skills is essential to preparing pupils for future study, employment, and life.
Harry Watts Academy are looking forward to building on this achievement further over the next year.
