J Melvin
BackJane Melvin, Trustee, has been Directorate Manager of the Great North Children’s Hospital (GNCH) since September 2014 responsible for 800 staff and £60 million budget. Responsible for all aspects of operational and strategic management. Since being in this post she has especially worked on vision and identity of GNCH and forging closer working with other Children’s Hospital nationally.
Previously in various management and nursing roles at NTW and in Oxford Mental Health Trust. Registered as a Mental Health Nurse since 1993. These roles included staff Nurse, Sister, Matron, Clinical manager and service management roles. She also taught part time on undergrad and post grad nursing education at University of Northumbria. These roles have given her a clear understanding of change management, workforce and developing services in challenging economic climate. Jane is especially interested in how statutory services can work together across traditional boundaries to enhance the experience of children and families. Jane has undertaken various national roles including 4 years as Chair of the Royal College of Psychiatry advisory group on Inpatient CAMHS (2010-14).
